What are Geospatial Services?

Geospatial data capture, from field and flight to file

Geospatial services combine field-collected and existing location-based data to support mapping, analysis and informed decision-making. This includes aerial and ground-based data capture, spatial data management, remote sensing, surveying support, GIS integration, map production and the presentation of geographic information through reports, web maps and digital platforms.

What can be delivered?

Project-ready geospatial data and spatial outputs

Geofield provides geospatial field services for surveying, GIS and commercial projects, including aerial imagery, georeferenced orthomosaics, point clouds, surface and terrain models, contours, volumetric data, GNSS observations, asset location and condition records, inspection imagery and field-verification data. All captured information is quality-checked, documented and prepared for integration into mapping, analysis and wider spatial workflows.

Choosing the right operator level for safe, professional and compliant operations.

ReOC (REMOTE OPERATOR’S CERTIFICATE)

THE PROFESSIONAL STANDARD FOR COMMERCIAL DRONE OPERATIONS

Geofield operates under a CASA-issued ReOC, providing a documented operational framework for safe, professional and compliant commercial drone services. This includes approved operating procedures, pilot oversight, risk management, record-keeping and operational accountability—making a ReOC-backed operator particularly well suited to surveying, GIS, infrastructure and other structured or complex projects.

A ReOC is best suited to businesses and organisations that provide commercial drone services, employ RePL-qualified pilots or conduct operations beyond the excluded category. Getting a ReOC is a more involved process that requires the appointment of a nominated Chief Remote Pilot who holds a RePL, as well as the submission of company operating procedures and policies to CASA for review and approval. It also requires appropriately qualified key personnel and places the organisation under ongoing CASA regulatory oversight. Pilots operating under the ReOC must hold the applicable RePL and relevant RPA category and type permissions. The ReOC framework supports scalable operations, structured service delivery, ongoing regulatory governance, operational approval processes and integration into more complex operating environments.

Best suited to:

  • Businesses, organisations and operators seeking full operational control, growth and commercial credibility.

Why?

  • Structured operational procedures

  • Approved operational documentation

  • Formal safety and risk-management

  • Commercial operational accountability

  • Operational planning and compliance oversight

  • Ability to support larger or more complex operational environments

  • Greater alignment with enterprise, infrastructure, mining and survey sector requirements

Resulting in safe, professional and compliant operations.

ALTERNATIVES

RePL (REMOTE PILOT LICENCE)

A licence for individual pilots

A RePL is an individual pilot qualification covering specified drone categories and weight classes. It is generally required for pilots operating under a ReOC and may also support applications for more advanced operational approvals. A RePL does not expire, although pilots remain responsible for maintaining their competency.

Best suited to:

  • Pilots flying larger drones

  • Working for existing operations

  • Seeking advanced operational capability.

RPA OPERATOR ACCREDITATION

A starting point

Eligible micro and excluded-category drones may be operated commercially without a RePL, provided the drone is registered, the operator holds CASA operator accreditation and all excluded-category conditions are followed. Operator accreditation is intended for comparatively straightforward, lower-risk operations and is valid for three years.

Best suited to:

  • Entry-level commercial operators

  • Low-risk operations.
